ASA to open Schiphol hub

In order to allow us to further expand our European operations, Atlantic Sun Airways has officially announced intentions to begin construction on the airline’s first European hub at Amsterdam's Schiphol International airport (EHAM). Our Shiphol hub will be the first new hub to be opened in four years.

This decision comes after months of discussion regarding the expansion of our international operations. Many airports were considered in this decision, however Schiphol was chosen due to airport size, the number of existing airlines already at the airport, the number of daily flights in and out of the airport, and VATSIM popularity. Atlantic Sun’s presence on VATSIM is beginning to grow at a rapid rate. With the recent addition of a dedicated Events Scheduler and more pilots joining every day, the need to provide a popular online arena in which to fly has become paramount.

With this change our Newark hub manager, Richard Pitonyak, will be moving into the hub manager position of our new Schiphol hub. Rick is excited about the challenge that this new hub brings, recognizing the amount of work and dedication it takes to build a new home for ASA in Europe. A statement regarding the availability of the Newark hub manager position will be released shortly.

It is expected that the ASA Schiphol Hub will become operational within the month. Stay tuned for further updates in the Atlantic Sun forums as more information becomes available.
